Blessing Prayer over the Wheat

in Memory of the Departed

Deacon: Let us pray to the Lord.

All: Lord, have mercy.

Priest: O Lord our God, hope of all those who call upon you, and acknowledge your holy name: let this wheat offered in your holy temple be blessed in memory of your departed servant N., and grant that he (she) for whom this wheat is offered, may dwell in the bosom of Abraham, in a place of happiness, of rest, and receive the remission of his (her) sins. O Lord, you who know human infirmity and our disposition toward evil, enter not into judgment against your servant (handmaid) N. who has departed to you in faith and hope. Grant that we too may observe your decrees in holiness, and may those who present offerings on behalf of your departed servant (handmaid), receive a worthy reward: for You, O Lord, are the repose of the departed, and we render glory to You, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever.
